KAIROS in the U.S.
Kairos got its start in the U.S. while still known as the Condensed World Mission Course. Brought from New Zealand to Utah in 2002, the first seeds were planted. In the following years the course would also be brought to Hawaii and Florida by Filipino facilitators who’d relocated to those areas. These beginnings also included the first of the 3rd edition, with the Kairos title, courses at the U.S. Center for World Mission in Pasadena, CA as well as a course of Spanish/English bilingual participants to launch the Spanish translation of the course. Another area was added when South African coordinators brought the course to the New Life School of Ministry in Indiana and trained a team to run the course there.
A major stream of momentum had also been growing in later years through the organization Team Expansion. Kairos International coordinators first brought the course to their training center in 2009 and since then Team Expansion has had a regular rotation of intensive courses as well as spread it throughout other churches and personnel in other parts of the country.
The growth of Kairos throughout the U.S. since this time has been tremendous with over 50 courses run in over 30 locations, including 10 states, 20+ churches, and 3 Bible colleges. Over 700 people, representing more than 25 states, 100 churches, and 15 missions/ministry organizations, have completed the course.
With the release of the revised 4th edition of Kairos and a renewed emphasis on building a movement, representatives from the different Kairos hubs came together in 2012 to form a National Coordination Team to better facilitate the next phase of Kairos growth.
